So what are Americans' general impressions about Ivy League students? I just did a street poll (I live in Boston) and I've gotten responses anywhere from ';Hardworking, smart, ambitious'; to ';ARROGANT SNOBS!! Snotty kids!'; to this crazy guy's ';no idea, but I know I'd never hire one because they tick me off. Lucky punks. I'm a 40 year old business owner and I never needed an Ivy League degree to get to where I am!';

I agree with the hardworking, smart, ambitious answers. If you're smart enough and dedicated enough to get into an Ivy League school you deserve to be there. If you want to hear Americans rant and rave, is it true that you only have to mention guns or religion?
This is one American who has both, and if needs be, I'll use the former to defend myself and the latter.

Human's are basicly clueless and judemental beings. If you know that Lord's prayer it tells you so... It tells you that you will be judged as you judge others. So, true, but unfortunatley most Christians or relgions or any sort don't understand that concept.. those are empty words to them. Most humans see this life on a very narrow spectrim and have extreamly low mentalities. Every thing is to be judged and debated and they believe their opinion on things is the only right answer... If you have a teen age kid you know what I mean, when I say that they get to a point where they ';think'; they know everything and you the parent are an idiot!!! Ha! That is how most humans continue to be in there lives. We need to love eachother not to actually accept what they do or believe, but just allow them to have a right to their own opinons and beliefs. Hear them out... that doesn't mean you have to agree... or even tell them your own opinoin... Chuckle from with in at their leval of mentality... Arguing doesn't get anyone any where... At least they are making an informed decision.

Newsday printed a retraction %26amp; openly stated that Obama's pamphlets were misleading and attributed comments to Clinton; that were not true.
Newsday further stated that it was in poor form %26amp; politics of the ';same old'; for Obama to mislead the voters by using pieces of the article that their publication retracted.

Be sure that she is lobbying the super delegates and making contributions to their personal campaigns. She'll be considering legal tactics to get votes from MI and FL. She'll pull out all the stops to smear him behind the scenes. She will have Larry Sinclair on TV. She is a Clinton with millions invested, and a personal dream that looks like it could be crushed.

I used to volunteer for the county during Christmas time - Christmas Coalition - to give underpriveleged kids Christmas presents - not anymore - its' all Mexicans. They come in and take up all the donations because they 'll have 15 kids - then our local kids don't get anything. It's gross.
These people are already working tax free, getting foodstamps, welfare checks, living for free in HUD houses and then they come in and take our kids gifts.
They've made it impossible to rent a house in our neighboring towns because the rent has gone so high, a normal family cant afford it. They'll rent a 2 bedroom , piece of crap house to 5 Mexican families and charge them $1000 a month. And I have lots of realtor friends who say they have taken the illegals to look at rental property and they actually stand there and count out how many matresses they think they can fit on the floor - and that's not a rumor! its the truth!
They've brought in alot of body lice and hair lice to our kids at school. They have brought staph over here. They're just not clean people. We had a little Mexican girl that had long thick hair full of lice - she gave it to everyone in her class. While all the other parents were spending all weekend %26amp; about 100 bucks a kid trying to get rid of it, the Mexican girls' mom wouldn't get rid of her kids lice - the girl came back to school and gave it to them AGAIN! To be honest, I have yet to really recieve that kind of talk, however, I have gotten the ';I was always taught to see people '; talk and the ';my parents are racists but I'm not'; talk. I see people from Iraq that live in the US waving their flag around and I see nobody screaming about that. It makes Americans angry when Mexicans carry Mexican flags at a rally and demand that Americans give them American rights and pay to support them.

I wouldn't expect them to learn my language just so we could communicate, that's not a reasonable request. Since Rush believes capitalism is the engine of freedom, and wealth for all, then he must - if he is true to his beliefs - oppose those who believe otherwise.
I, for one, hope President Obama has a successful presidency. But, my standards for that success are probably opposite the typical liberal's standards of success. For Obama to succeed (IMHO) he must resist the urge to perform the tasks the extreme left-wing part of the Democrat Party has virtually demanded he perform.
And after 36 hours in office - with the suspension of the trial of Khalid Sheikh Mohammad - mastermind of the 9/11 attacks, and the soon-to-be confirmation of tax cheat Timothy Geithner as Treasury Secretary - he is getting off on the wrong foot.
I didn't hear his rant; only the radio ad clips for his show. I heard him in 1986 or 1987 when his show was on KFI in L.A. I loved the show, and I was wrong to do so. My American History Teachers Rant ?
My American History Teacher in college is African American and he thinks Barack Obama is the overrated. I will paraphrase his 15 min speech. He said that to say we made history when he was elected is undeniable. But to say that it was impossible is ignorant. He said that for us as Americans to be so amazed and proud of ourselves that we elected a Black Man as president is dumb. To be an American citizen and to not feel or expect that any person of any race of any gender of any creed can succeed in life isnt truly filled with the American spirit. And I remind you he is a college history teacher. He said that to those who cried or those who felt validated or for those who were ';proud'; again to be Americans were never true Americans, they were people living in America. He also said although he is African American and he did vote for Obama, he did not cry or even cared too much. He compared those who cried when Obama was elected to that of a person crying when they turn on a faucet and water comes out or crying when a light turns on after you flip a switch. Why are you so surprised ? That is how it is like with Obama being elected. Nothing special. I quote ';Just like any other Presidential Inauguration.';

I think it gives the USA way too much credit to assume that its ideals have ever matched up with action. This was a country founded by the enlightenment, guaranteeing freedom for all men, with an economy founded in the institution of slavery (it took 100 years extra to break that).
The whole line about 'anyone can be President' may have always been the slogan, but the fact remains that the first FORTY THREE were old white guys, or that even now, Nintey-Some percent of the Senate are old white guys.
I can understand why people get emotional with Obama's win. Your professor is taking the place country is now for granted, and ignoring all the struggle that it took to get here.

After all, Dr. King spoke of a dream in which all men would be judged on the content of their character, not by the color of their skin. In a perfect world, we wouldn't be celebrating it because he's black, we'd be celebrating it because it is a peaceful transfer of power from one group to the next.

David Cook is awesome. I also like David A. but his father is a pain in the ***. Because of his father, I think David A will not win. I actually hope that David Cook doesn't go much farther, because I think, if he wins, he will be stuck doing the American Idol stuff and it will hinder his getting a great record deal where he could do his own stuff.
I hope Archuleta steps up his game because I really like him.

For the same reason any negative comments or action against any ';minority'; group by a white person is racism but negative comments from a ';minority'; group member against a white person is fair play since all white people have abused and continue to abuse minorities. The same thing applies in situations where a male boss says something a female employee doesn't like and it's sexual harassment but when a female boss makes sexual advances toward a male subordinate she's liberating and expressing her sexuality that has been repressed at the hands of men. America (I assume you're talking about the U.S.) is a very big Country whose citizens live by a mind-boggling and chaotic patchwork of ideologies and philosophies. IMHO saying you're pro-American is about as meaningful as saying you're pro solar system.

I do not agree with him but the fact is that we the Americans arent really doing our job as humans to try to keep the earth in shape.. we are not helping to stop Global Warming, we are helping to destroy the earth... thats probably has nothing to do with the subject but maybe thats why he said it...
