I would say placing the blame on Obama is wrong, but I dont believe most people know better. Americans and I would say all people like to view people with power or high status to be what their portrayed as. I still believe Obama is who he says he is, and people tend to forget that just because you have political ties with each other means they embodied the same beliefs or morals. B/c to make it far in politics you must have ties with everyone to get elected, but the problem no one thinks the same. Being a politician is kissin butt, and making compromises. I mean presidents (not sure who) shook hands and worked with Bin Laden, but that doesnt mean he likes him. They just had to cut a deal to coexist.

Even Brother Malcolm, after making his pilgrimmage to Mecca, denounced his own racist, seperatist, views when he realized, that people who are polar opposites can still be ';Brothers.'; I took special offense to the statements made about 9/11. Those people who died in the attacks on the World Trade Center were not guilty of anything but going to work, in pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness! If ever ';America's chickens come home to roost,'; I truly believe innocent people will NOT pay. The evil will pay. ';God BLESS America!'; Not, ';God D*** Us.'; That is where WRIGHT is WRONG! Other topics of the sermon are debateable, and open for discussion, because you might hear those things said in ANY Black church. But EVERY church doesn't have a Black candidate on his way to the White House. I won't blame Barack for the statements his Pastor made, cause Lord knows, I don't agree with every word my Pastor says. But I will say that Mr. Wright should have spent more time using God's words right out of the Good Book, if he really wanted to TOUCH people, and not ANGER people or give Hillary more ammunition. The irresponsible, hate-filled comments are inexcusable, and they have no place in God's House. I will not defend Mr. Wrong but I still feel Obama is Mr. Right.
I think appearances matter, and that Obama's association with Rev. Wright is not good for him politically. However, Rev. Wright's words are not that of Obama, and I am willing to overlook the issue as an unfortunate happening.
It's a detraction, but a minor one. I still prefer Obama in the election, and I think plenty of people are too quick to associate the two too closely, but again, appearances do matter. Luckily for Obama, that's been a plus for him on the whole to date.

Personally, I think the situation presents an exceptional opportunity for the black community to take a long look in the mirror and consider the hypocrisy of their position. President Bush spoke at Bob Jones University for thirty minutes in 2000 and the segregated views of that institution were immediately imparted to Bush. How objective is that? I once took my family out of a Church because the preacher cussed out an umpire at a Church softball game in front of my children. Failure to have done so would have sent the wrong message to my kids and would have been a retreat from my own principles. True, Obama didn't say the hateful words of his pastor, but he did subject his family to them and that speaks volumes of not only his principles, but his judgment. I think you are intentionally missing the point of those of us who oppose this double standard as I know of no one who blames Obama for the words of another, but to sit and listen to it for twenty years with your family present does imply acceptance of those words. Yesterday, in a radio interview in Philadelphia, Obama described his grand mother as a ';typical white woman,'; regarding race. My bet is that the black community is willing to give him a pass on that as well. To that end I would describe those who do as being ';typical black people.'; ...and if you want to call me a racist for saying that, you also need to consider calling him one. Or does he get a pass and I don't?

You are a father of Children and you also teach children, and as a parent of one of your students If you allowed these children to sit under Mr Wright's teaching,for twenty years. And did not distance your and my children from him,Then I would question your judgment also and would not let my child be in your Class room. I certainly do. I respect Obama for his position and all he has said about it. He is a very honorable man and this is just another way to attack him. We have all known and loved and been friends with people we don't always agree with. Being a Christian is all about love and forgiveness and this was his pastor that brought him to Christ. We all make exceptions when there is a strong emotional bond. Putting a man in the white house and in the position of leader and chief shouldn't hinge on every single mistake the people in his life has made, rather upon his own merits. The media and their hound dog ethics sicken me. I hope he wins and has a chance to right some of the serious dilemmas the past three former Presidents have left us with.

Are you sick of Rosie O'Donnell's anti-American ranting as much as I am?
I'm NOT a fan of the View but, I find it interesting to see just what Rosie O'Donnell and that other leftist fanatical liberal ,Joyce Behar, are spewing out about our government.
Today, Rosie did not have her facts straight as usual, pointing out the picture of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed who has admitted responsibility of planning 9/11 and other attacks on America.
She points to the picture and states ';Look at him, doesn't he look healthy?'; as if his condition is the result of what she claims is his being ';tortured'; at Guantanamo Bay.
The picture she is pointing out is the one taken of him just after his capture, at 3 a.m. in the morning in March 2003 and not a recent one of his incarceration at Guantanamo.
Rosie's ';Views'; are rather skewed I'd say and unfortunately too many of those gullible audience members and those at home are buying into it.
Does Rosie need to be taken off the air for broadcasting false information about the U.S. Government?Are you sick of Rosie O'Donnell's anti-American ranting as much as I am?

Most prefer American Indian. Not Native American. There are many reason why people prefer this. I personally don’t like Native American because Indians are not Native to America. Maybe the land but not America. When my ancestors lived there it wasn’t called America. They only knew boundaries.(For example Muddy River..ect.) Christopher Columbus gave the name Indios (Which in Spanish means Indians).Because the Europeans spoke in different dialects, some pronounced the word Indien, Indianer, or Indian. Another reason why most prefer Indian VS Native because American Indian is a federally known name. Most of the time an Indian will state what tribe she or he is from, (I’m from the Lakota tribe” rather than saying “I’m American Indian” (Only used when needed or talking about all tribes together).
As far as Indians complaining isn’t necessarily complaining. Simply telling people what’s ok and what’s not ok. We have nothing left to call our own. You mentioned names. There has been a recent trend towards giving white children the names of Indian tribes as first names (Dakota, Cheyenne, Chippewa, etc.) I'd recommend against this, for two reasons: first, many American Indians find the practice culturally and religiously inappropriate. It's difficult to explain why to outsiders, but think about how acceptable Biblical names like Mary and Jacob are to most American Christians, yet how unacceptable baby names like Christ or God would be.. Tribal names have special meaning in Indian culture, and using them as first names isn't considered respectful to the people any more than naming your baby God would be interpreted as honoring God. She put it all down so well and captured the true feeling of how I personally feel about it also. I am 1/2 Ottawa and proud of it. My father and grandparents could not even admit to any whites that they were Indians because of the treatment they know they would have to endure and it was not pleasant or kind in any way. I can tell you honestly the whites in the state of Michigan still treat us as inferior to them.
The safest place I feel is at an Traditional Pow-wow. Because that is where I am accepted and cared for better than anywhere else. My grandparents and my father had to live as whites, I refuse to and I give them the honor of not having to hide anymore. Read, listen to talk radio, and read some more. Educate yourself so you can argue you points effectively. If you can counter all of their arguments effectively, they've got to respect you.
If you get a prof. who grades subjectively, you need to report him. You've got a right to have you're own opinion, as long as it is supported by fact and well argued.
I advise you to just play along. Some of these people are very nasty and they will give you a bad grade because you might disagree with them politically. I had an PETA member for an English teacher (He even showed a PETA propaganda video in class) and got a 4.0 on a paper arguing FOR the production and consumption of animal meat by humans. Just work hard and explain your viewpoint clearly without delving into petty name-calling and whining and all should be well, like you would with a paper where you honestly sided with the teacher.
I've never had a teacher grade based on their own ideology. Most teachers may lean left, but they're not out to get you. (At least none I've ever met lol.)

A good professor should love a good intellectual argument. Just don't monopolize class time, and don't expect to convince anyone. But if you challenge their views appropriately, you can hone your debating skills, perhaps gain new perspective, and show both the professor and the rest of the class that not everyone agrees or takes the professor's views for granted.
Of course, if either you or the professor is incapable of debating these hot-button topics with respect and restraint -- if you'd find yourself getting rude and insubordinate, or if the professor is biased enough to treat you unfairly as a result of your views, then you're probably better off just sitting through it, getting your grade, and hoping for a more simpatico instructor in the future.

The Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Obama's pastor for the last 20 years at the Trinity United Church of Christ on Chicago's south side, has a long history of what even Obama's campaign aides concede is ';inflammatory rhetoric,'; including the assertion that the United States brought on the 9/11 attacks with its own ';terrorism.';
In a campaign appearance earlier this month, Sen. Obama said, ';I don't think my church is actually particularly controversial.'; He said Rev. Wright ';is like an old uncle who says things I don't always agree with,'; telling a Jewish group that everyone has someone like that in their family.
Rev. Wright married Obama and his wife Michelle, baptized their two daughters and is credited by Obama for the title of his book, ';The Audacity of Hope.';
An ABC News review of dozens of Rev. Wright's sermons, offered for sale by the church, found repeated denunciations of the U.S. based on what he described as his reading of the Gospels and the treatment of black Americans.
';The government gives them the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike law and then wants us to sing 'God Bless America.' No, no, no, God damn America, that's in the Bible for killing innocent people,'; he said in a 2003 sermon. ';God damn America for treating our citizens as less than human. God damn America for as long as she acts like she is God and she is supreme.';
In addition to damning America, he told his congregation on the Sunday after Sept. 11, 2001 that the United States had brought on al Qaeda's attacks because of its own terrorism.
';We bombed Hiroshima, we bombed Nagasaki, and we nuked far more than the thousands in New York and the Pentagon, and we never batted an eye,'; Rev. Wright said in a sermon on Sept. 16, 2001.
';We have supported state terrorism against the Palestinians and black South Africans, and now we are indignant because the stuff we have done overseas is now brought right back to our own front yards. America's chickens are coming home to roost,'; he told his congregation.
Sen. Obama told the New York Times he was not at the church on the day of Rev. Wright's 9/11 sermon. ';The violence of 9/11 was inexcusable and without justification,'; Obama said in a recent interview. ';It sounds like he was trying to be provocative,'; Obama told the paper.
Rev. Wright, who announced his retirement last month, has built a large and loyal following at his church with his mesmerizing sermons, mixing traditional spiritual content and his views on contemporary issues.
';I wouldn't call it radical. I call it being black in America,'; said one congregation member outside the church last Sunday.
';He has impacted the life of Barack Obama so much so that he wants to portray that feeling he got from Rev. Wright onto the country because we all need something positive,'; said another member of the congregation.
Rev. Wright, who declined to be interviewed by ABC News, is considered one of the country's 10 most influential black pastors, according to members of the Obama campaign.
Obama has praised at least one aspect of Rev. Wright's approach, referring to his ';social gospel'; and his focus on Africa, ';and I agree with him on that.';
Sen. Obama declined to comment on Rev. Wright's denunciations of the United States, but a campaign religious adviser, Shaun Casey, appearing on ';Good Morning America'; Thursday, said Obama ';had repudiated'; those comments.
In a statement to ABCNews.com, Obama's press spokesman Bill Burton said, ';Sen. Obama has said repeatedly that personal attacks such as this have no place in this campaign or our politics, whether they're offered from a platform at a rally or the pulpit of a church. Sen. The growing consensus is that the Rev. Wright is more than Barack's spiritual mentor. Jeremiah Wright became the father figure that Barack needed and that was lacking in Barack's upbringing.
The real concern is that Barack has at some levels been indoctrinated by the hateful and divisive rants of J. Wright, a man Barack much admires and looks up to, and as such will have a dangerous bias against a majority of Americans and the U.S. Constitution.

You have to first understand where Rev. Wright is coming from, the man has experienced more than you and everyone responding to your question put together, He was a black man who grew up in the 60's, was a marine and a navy man to say the least... black preachers will tell it like it is regardless of what people think, I can see how it can come accross as hateful and hostile to many, but if you really want to break down he's message, you must listen to the entire sermon and not just a small portion of what the media wants you hear. Rev. Wright will say what many black people of he's time don't have the courage to say, regardless of how he's words are interpreted. Some will love you for it and some will hate you, that's just the way it is.
Barack has already said he wasn't present during those sermons and that he denounces what rev. wright said. What more do you want? I don't believe Rev. Sen. Barack Obama's pastor says blacks should not sing ';God Bless America'; but ';God damn America.';
The Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Obama's pastor for the last 20 years at the Trinity United Church of Christ on Chicago's south side, has a long history of what even Obama's campaign aides concede is ';inflammatory rhetoric,'; including the assertion that the United States brought on the 9/11 attacks with its own ';terrorism.';
In a campaign appearance earlier this month, Sen. Obama said, ';I don't think my church is actually particularly controversial.'; He said Rev. Wright ';is like an old uncle who says things I don't always agree with,'; telling a Jewish group that everyone has someone like that in their family.
Rev. Wright married Obama and his wife Michelle, baptized their two daughters and is credited by Obama for the title of his book, ';The Audacity of Hope.';
An ABC News review of dozens of Rev. Wright's sermons, offered for sale by the church, found repeated denunciations of the U.S. based on what he described as his reading of the Gospels and the treatment of black Americans.
';The government gives them the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike law and then wants us to sing 'God Bless America.' No, no, no, God damn America, that's in the Bible for killing innocent people,'; he said in a 2003 sermon. ';God damn America for treating our citizens as less than human. God damn America for as long as she acts like she is God and she is supreme.';
In addition to damning America, he told his congregation on the Sunday after Sept. 11, 2001 that the United States had brought on al Qaeda's attacks because of its own terrorism.
';We bombed Hiroshima, we bombed Nagasaki, and we nuked far more than the thousands in New York and the Pentagon, and we never batted an eye,'; Rev. Wright said in a sermon on Sept. 16, 2001.
';We have supported state terrorism against the Palestinians and black South Africans, and now we are indignant because the stuff we have done overseas is now brought right back to our own front yards. America's chickens are coming home to roost,'; he told his congregation.
Sen. Obama told the New York Times he was not at the church on the day of Rev. Wright's 9/11 sermon. ';The violence of 9/11 was inexcusable and without justification,'; Obama said in a recent interview. ';It sounds like he was trying to be provocative,'; Obama told the paper.
Rev. Wright, who announced his retirement last month, has built a large and loyal following at his church with his mesmerizing sermons, mixing traditional spiritual content and his views on contemporary issues.
';I wouldn't call it radical. I call it being black in America,'; said one congregation member outside the church last Sunday.
';He has impacted the life of Barack Obama so much so that he wants to portray that feeling he got from Rev. Wright onto the country because we all need something positive,'; said another member of the congregation.
Rev. Wright, who declined to be interviewed by ABC News, is considered one of the country's 10 most influential black pastors, according to members of the Obama campaign.
Obama has praised at least one aspect of Rev. Wright's approach, referring to his ';social gospel'; and his focus on Africa, ';and I agree with him on that.';
Sen. Obama declined to comment on Rev. Wright's denunciations of the United States, but a campaign religious adviser, Shaun Casey, appearing on ';Good Morning America'; Thursday, said Obama ';had repudiated'; those comments.
In a statement to ABCNews.com, Obama's press spokesman Bill Burton said, ';Sen. Obama has said repeatedly that personal attacks such as this have no place in this campaign or our politics, whether they're offered from a platform at a rally or the pulpit of a church. Sen. Obama does not think of the pastor of his church in political terms. Like a member of his family, there are things he says with which Sen. Obama deeply disagrees. But now that he is retired, that doesn't detract from Sen. Obama's affection for Rev. Wright or his appreciation for the good works he has done.';

The growing consensus is that the Rev. Wright is more than Barack's spiritual mentor. Jeremiah Wright became the father figure that Barack needed and that was lacking in Barack's upbringing.
The real concern is that Barack has at some levels been indoctrinated by the hateful and divisive rants of J. Wright, a man Barack much admires and looks up to, and as such will have a dangerous bias against a majority of Americans and the U.S. Constitution.

You have to first understand where Rev. Wright is coming from, the man has experienced more than you and everyone responding to your question put together, He was a black man who grew up in the 60's, was a marine and a navy man to say the least... black preachers will tell it like it is regardless of what people think, I can see how it can come accross as hateful and hostile to many, but if you really want to break down he's message, you must listen to the entire sermon and not just a small portion of what the media wants you hear. Rev. Wright will say what many black people of he's time don't have the courage to say, regardless of how he's words are interpreted. Some will love you for it and some will hate you, that's just the way it is.
Barack has already said he wasn't present during those sermons and that he denounces what rev. wright said. What more do you want? I don't believe Rev. Wright hates america, I do believe he's message came from a lot of pain and from getting caught in the moment. I'm not voting for Rev. Wright... I'm voting for Sen. Barack Obama because of who he is and because of what I believe he stands for, should Barack lose this election, we're all going to miss out on a very special leader.
